Dr. Faubel’s integrative approach incorporates teachings from humanistic and Buddhist psychology. She includes nature in her teachings and believes that at their core, human beings strive to be complete, balanced, and open to growth.
During the pandemic, she has spent most of her time working outdoors with clients dealing with trauma. Her background includes working with combat veterans, first responders, cult survivors, and patients with a multitude of PTSD complications. The uncertainty of our times has led her to research and develop programs that address the adverse effects of prolonged collective trauma and grief in our society.
Dr. Faubel has been in practice for over 30 years. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Consulting Psychology from Harvard University. After teaching at the American University in London, England, for three years, she returned to the US to complete a Doctorate degree in Psychology from the Miami Institute of Psychology. She completed her doctoral internship in the Behavioral Medicine Department at Miami Children’s Hospital. She worked as a psychologist in the school system with severely disturbed adolescents and subsequently opened a practice supported by her herd of horses (www.equulibrium.com). Dr. Faubel is a consulting psychologist for the Florida court system and the immigration courts and provides professional services and trainings for various international corporations.
She is an Eponaquest Equine Facilitated psychotherapist and a certified Transformational Presence coach. Her PATH-certified ranch in south Florida served as an international pioneering teaching facility for 15 years, where students from 6 universities were able to complete their masters and doctoral level internship requirements.
During the pandemic, she sold the Equulibrium ranch, and her practice has shifted to providing interventions that support those courageous individuals serving in the frontlines.

Her nursing career spans over 4 decades. She spent the bulk of her career working in neonatal intensive care, as a charge and transport nurse. In the mid-1980's she co-founded the first high-tech pediatric home care agency in Minneapolis.
In 2006, Deborah and her husband, Steven, left the USA for an adventure in Costa Rica. They transformed an old 26-acre dairy farm into a well-loved retreat center at the base of the Arenal Volcano. There she ran equine, wellness, photography and self development retreats for 14 years. Deborah is an author, expert facilitator, and teacher.
She has presented at numerous conferences as a registered nurse and as an equine practitioner. She is an Advanced Eponaquest and Power of the Herd instructor and has co-instructed the Eponaquest equine-facilitated learning apprenticeship program in New Zealand, Australia, the USA, and Costa Rica. Her international workshop schedule has taken her to Ireland, Denmark, Costa Rica, the USA, France, and Canada.
In 2020, at the onset of the pandemic, Deborah and Steven moved back to the USA. Her company, Eponcity, LLC (www.eponicity.com), offers online coaching and group courses, in-person experiential equine coaching, and private equine-supported retreats/workshops for corporate groups, individuals, and families at their farm in Virginia.
